Each user will be responsible for maintaining the
documents on the Library server. It is accessible to
the public from links on the Chebeague websites.
All documents must be in Adobe Acrobat PDF format and can easily
be posted or retrieved by authorized users (not the general public!) by following
these directions:
1. Click My Computer on your desktop and navigate to the directory where you
store your files. This is usually My Documents,
but you may have a different filing system.
2. Open Internet Explorer (or you favorite browser) and enter
ftp://chebeague.chebeague.lib.me.us/ (or just click this link). Notice that the first few letters are
"ftp", not "http" -- this is correct.
3. Enter the user name and the password that has been give to you for this
purpose. Please keep this information private. Another window asking for your user name and password again,
followd by a window with your files displayed.
4. All you have to do is drag and drop the icons for files to transfer them.
If they're large files, it may take a few seconds for
them to transfer.
That's it! Then, just to check your work,
access the library using
www.chebeague.org and see if your documents are
there as you edited them.
If this system doesn't work (and for some, it doesn't) you can use any ftp
program using the same username and password. Please see me for details,
if needed.
This really is a simple system once you get the hang of it. If you're having
any problems, please call or write me and if necessary I'll help you get set up.
Thank you all for your participation and cooperation!
